Lindsay and Sammy are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and made the trek to Hacienda Pinilla with 120 friends and relatives from Texas. They made every guest warm and welcome in the land of Pura Vida, where Sammy has been coming on yearly surfing trips for over a decade. This beauty of a wedding was featured on the blog Every Last Detail and we hope you enjoy all the details as much as we did putting them all together!
Dinner set up on the lawn. This area of Guanacaste sees the famous Papagayo winds every December through to February and this part of Hacienda Pinilla is one of the hardest hit so decor had to be ‘wind proofed’.
Succulents, calas and dendrboium orchids created a colourful bouquet.
Orange cymbidium orchid boutonniere added a nice colour pop against the groom’s linen suit.
Vases held calas, lillies, hydrangeas and orchids. Due to the windy conditions of this area in December, florals were all low and candles battery operated (outdoor wedding tip!).
Round tables were set on the lawn, under a ceiling of twinkle lights and lanterns. Tables donned sheer organza overlays in either sky blue or light green while coral napkins provided a punch of color.
An elegant lounge area was set up between the two thatched roof palapas, which house the buffet area and the dance area. Here, guests could relax while enjoying a cigar from the cigar roller and sipping on rare rum, tequila or scotch from the Special Tasting Bar.
Table numbers were in frames with wine corks, a nod to the couple’s love of vino.
Local Latin guitar trio added a true Tico touch to the ceremony and cocktail hour.
The ceremony was on one of the prettiest beaches in Costa Rica with a driftwood pergola decorated with hydrangeas, calas, Peruvian lillies and orchids.

Big wedding, big wedding party. Love how the girl’s bright dresses reflect off of the beach.
The couple exchanged their vows under a driftwood canopy on one of Costa Rica’s prettiest beaches against the stunning sunset.
The three layer cake was flown in from San Jose, filled with nummy Tootsie Roll flavor and rum filling.
The cigar roller was a huge hit. Tobacco grown here in Costa Rica is from Cuban seeds, making a perfectly-rolled cigar a highly enjoyed post-dinner treat.
And did these people know how to party! The dance floor was packed to the sounds of DJ Sky and guests revelled in dressing up with fake mustaches, donning crazy glasses and lots of decorative beads.
